2014 Scope of Work for 3130 US Route 20, Town of Nassau, NY INVITATION FOR PROPOSALS February 2014 General Provisions Please take note: prevailing wage applies to all employees of those submitting proposals. Appropriate proof of insurance is required. All work is subject to the approval of the Nassau Building Inspector. Non-collusive bidding certificates must accompany each proposal. The Town Board reserves the right to reject any and all proposals. Proposals are to be delivered to the Nassau Town Clerk, 29 Church Street, Nassau, NY by 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014. Project Overview The Town of Nassau is seeking to replace the shingle roof on a town building located at 3130 US Route 20, Town of Nassau. The Town desires to replace the roof with appropriate grade architectural shingles. The final selection of the roofing material shall be determined in the contract process. The existing roof is to be removed to the decking and discarded, with the removal of all debris for this project to be the responsibility of the successful contractor. All debris shall be picked up at the end of each work day with special care taken to retrieve any nails or other sharp objects that may puncture tires. Contractors should recognize that work will continue at the site during this project and shall plan accordingly. Any damaged or rotted roof decking is to be replaced with plywood of the same quality approved by the Town. Any loose decking is to be re-secured to the joists. Hurricane clips shall be added to any new plywood. Any necessary deck spacing issues shall also be addressed during this time. Appropriate ice barrier underlayment shall be outlined in the proposal and shall be applied from the eaves edge to at least 24 inches from the inside exterior wall line. The type of flashing to be utilized and the roof underlayment shall also be outlined in the proposal. A minimum of 20 or 25-year architectural shingles shall be utilized for this project.
